Dave Garlie was raised in MN/WI. Attended college at University of Wisconsin – River Falls for his Bachelor studies in chemistry and biochemistry. He finished up his Masters of Science degree in Chemistry at North Dakota State University – Fargo. While at NDSU, Dave met his wife Maria (Peters) Garlie and after 30 years of marriage and counting have raised 2-children both on paths with successful careers in Chemical Engineering and Healthcare. Dave and Maria currently reside in Eau Claire, WI.
Dave spent 28 years at a major agricultural company from MN focused on developing and delivering new uses/materials derived from rapidly renewable U.S. farmer raised agricultural products like corn and soybeans.
Some of Dave’s major accomplishments over the past 4-decades include new uses for corn and soybeans engineered to replace petroleum binders used to make building materials like Insulation, Paper & Packaging, Engineered Wood & Composites, and Flooring products.
Dave is taking his skill set and has joined a start-up company, Cross Plains Solutions, LLC out of Dalton, GA with a mission to develop, formulate and deliver pivot solutions from petroleum products without sacrificing cost and/or performance while improving carbon footprints and environmental scores with rapidly renewable & sustainable U.S. farmer raised building blocks like corn and soybeans.
Dave’s currently working on new firefighting foams derived from soybeans, trade named SoyFoam™, to replace the per- and poly-fluoro alkyl substances (PFAS) or ‘Forever Chemicals’ dominating today’s headlines and devastating our environment because of their contributions to health complications, birth defects, and cancer.
