Harkirat Kaur is the Assistant Professor and Extension Specialist in Corn Production Systems at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before coming to Madison, she worked as a research assistant on evaluating plant and pathogen interactions for improving corn production and quality in Michigan. As a corn agronomist for Wisconsin, she aims to create a collaborative environment to approach research holistically and provide pragmatic insights for crop production. Her primary goal is to provide easily accessible research to the growers. Harkirat’s research will address agronomic concerns in corn production such as weather challenges, the resurgence of secondary pests, and the invasion of non-native species. She also aims to conduct collaborative research studies with corn growers to tackle management issues and explore novel concepts like short-stature corn for grain and silage practices.
